Role Overview

Provide technical and project leadership for the analysis, design, and delivery of structural systems supporting chemical, power, and industrial facilities. Act as the senior technical authority for civil and structural engineering activities, ensuring designs comply with building codes, industry standards, and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead civil and structural engineering activities from concept to detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical leadership for foundations, steel structures, pipe racks, equipment supports, and tall framed structures.
  • Serve as Civil/Structural Discipline Lead on major projects, ensuring deliverables meet scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Develop, review, and approve structural calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and design packages.
  • Establish design criteria and technical requirements for project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, and Worley quality expectations.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines and offices.
  • Support project planning activities—engineering estimates, schedules, staffing plans, and execution strategies.
  • Monitor project performance and communicate engineering status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, constructability evaluations, and value improvement initiatives.
  • Support procurement and construction through technical evaluations, vendor reviews, field support, and issue resolution.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables prepared by engineers and designers.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development support to junior and mid‑level staff.
  • Represent the discipline during client meetings, technical reviews, and project discussions.
  • Promote continuous improvement and adoption of innovative engineering practices and technologies.
  • Conduct site visits and field walk‑downs as needed to support execution.
What You Will Bring

Technical & Industry Experience:

  • Extensive experience leading structural design for chemical, power, industrial, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, ASTM, and PIP.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong experience in structural analysis, steel design, foundation design, and construction support.
  • Proficiency with STAAD Pro, STAAD Foundation, Mat3D, RISA 3D, and connection design software.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Connect, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and designers while maintaining technical excellence.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer‑focused delivery.
Education & Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 15+ years of progressive civil/structural engineering experience in industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading structural scope on major capital projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility in West Virginia.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, OneNote).
