Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and test software for space systems. Lead a team of engineers, set architectural direction, and drive critical projects with a focus on robust, scalable software solutions.

The role requires extensive programming experience, strong leadership, and the ability to make high-level design decisions in a fast-moving, mission-critical environment. Security clearance and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; master's plus 13 yrs counted as alternative.
• Typically, 15+ years of related experience.
• Experience with multiple programming languages and software development principles.
• Ability to design, architect, and implement complex software systems.
• Strong leadership to lead a team of engineers.
• Ability to make high-level design decisions and drive strategic direction.
• Proven project leadership and communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum/Kanban development methods.
• Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.
