Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL seeks Principal Engineer Software or Sr. Principal Engineer Software to support the Global Surveillance Division.

The role focuses on full software lifecycle development, including design, testing, and troubleshooting with C++, Python, and Linux in a lab environment. You will work with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and container tech (Podman/Docker), ensure security STIG compliance, and contribute to system architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years in software engineering or 8+ with master’s (Principal).
• US citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; interim clearance to start.
• Development experience in C/C++ and Linux kernel/user-space work; virtualization and scripting.
• Ability to lead teams and collaborate across engineering and lab environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain software across the lifecycle.
• Lead and collaborate with teams; drive end-to-end architecture decisions.
• Develop technical documentation and presentations for the customer.
• Support software metrics gathering and adhere to program best practices.
