Job summary

Collins Aerospace in the United States is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead cargo software development for next-generation aircraft seating. This on-site role can be based in Winston-Salem, NC or Jamestown, ND, and requires strong C/C++ experience and DO-178 certification.

You will align engineering efforts, collaborate with systems engineers, and manage risks while ensuring program milestones and software quality across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM with 10+ years of relevant software experience.

This an onsite position that can be based in either Winston Salem, North Carolina or Jamestown, North Dakota.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as technical leader for cargo software team, aligning efforts across engineering teams to ensure completion of capabilities within project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with Systems Engineers to develop, mature and update software requirements.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and dependencies and ensure seamless program execution.
  • Support risk and opportunity management, schedule adherence, and cost control to meet program deliverables and financial objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and development of a Systems/Software architecture for the aircraft Cargo System.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role
  • Experience in Software Engineering to include experience working various phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment that requires communication with other engineering disciplines, Program, and external stakeholders
  • Mentoring experience with junior engineers
  • Experience with Software Development Using C/C++
  • Experience with DO-178 and Software Certification

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
