Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of a modern, scalable networking platform within the VPC Network group. This role emphasizes cross‑functional leadership, writing production code in Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++, and shaping cloud-native SDN solutions to modernize infrastructure.

The position requires deep experience in networking, SDN, and large-scale systems, with a focus on delivering high-impact technology across teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in systems engineering, networking or distributed systems.
• Experience delivering system design, app development, testing and stability.
• Expert in Go, Python, C/C++, or Rust.
• Proven ability to influence across functions and deliver value at scale.
• Hands-on SDN experience with OVN/OVS or equivalent.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, load balancing).
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability.
• Apply expertise to solve complex tech problems across disciplines.
• Extensive cloud-native experience.
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Advise and lead strategy and development of multiple products and technologies across a portfolio.
• Design and architect core JPMC‑VPC components: control plane, data plane, gateways, load balancers, IPAM.
• Create novel code solutions and drive new production capabilities across teams.
• Write production-quality Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++ code for networking infra.
• Translate complex issues to leadership to drive innovation and decisions.
• Collaborate with vendor partners (Red Hat, NVIDIA) on roadmap and integration.
• Represent JPMorganChase in open-source communities and industry forums.
• Drive adoption of technical methods in line with product development methods.
• Create durable, reusable software frameworks across teams.
• Influence across business, product and tech groups; manage senior stakeholders.
• Champion diversity, opportunity, inclusion and respect.
