Job summary

Zev Technologies in Utah seeks an experienced Senior/Principal Design Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts. The role blends hands-on design work with technical leadership, mentoring, and process development in GD&T, DFMA, and CAD (SolidWorks).

You will bridge Engineering with Quality, Operations, Procurement, and Manufacturing, while guiding suppliers and contract manufacturers. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanism design background, is fluent in GD&T, and can help move the team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; equivalent hands-on experience.
• 8+ years mechanical design experience for Senior level, 12+ for Principal level, with mechanism design focus.
• Deep, demonstrable GD&T expertise (ASME Y14.5) with mentoring ability.
• Experience designing go/no-go and functional inspection gaging.
• Strong CAD and drawing skills; SolidWorks preferred.
• Direct experience sourcing and managing suppliers and contract manufacturers.
• Cross-functional work with Quality, Operations, Procurement, and Manufacturing.
• Comfortable coaching engineers and aligning with product roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical guidance and mentorship for the design engineering team.
• Lead design reviews, drafting standards, ECR/ECN, and design release checklists.
• Develop GD&T standards, templates, and best-practice documentation.
• Collaborate with Product/Project Management to plan roadmaps and timelines.
• Partner with Suppliers to resolve design and manufacturability issues.
• Ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and on-time.
