Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Cyber Software Engineer to develop and maintain advanced software systems. The role requires active TS/SCI with Polygraph and will perform in Annapolis Junction, MD, among other locations.

You will lead development, debugging, and integration efforts across Windows/UNIX environments. Responsibilities include designing software components, performing tests, and contributing to hardware/software tradeoffs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field; 7+ years of experience for degrees.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required for start.
  • Ability to analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Experience debugging existing software and correcting defects.
  • Develop and modify software using C/C++, Java, and Python; design complex systems.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bamboo, Docker).

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems would like you to join our team as a Sr. Principal Cyber Software Engineer. Places of performance for this position are Annapolis Junction MD, San Antonio TX, Aurora CO, and Carey, NC.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.

Work individually or as part of a team.

Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.

Resolve software problem reports.

Utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.

Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma with 11 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience

Active and Current TS/SCI with Polygraph
The Level 1 Software Engineer (SWE) shall possess the following capabilities:

Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements

Debug existing software and correct defects

Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards

Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments

Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories

Write or review software and system documentation

Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project

Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards

Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas

Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance

Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

Additional contract or position specific required experience for this level (skills, technologies, expertise):

Build applications using specified programming language per the development requirements.

Development for Windows or UNIX applications using scripting languages (e.g., C, C++, C#, Java, and Python).

Dev Ops- Build and deploy technologies (e.g., Artifactory, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Packer)

Cl/CD- Experience with Cl/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins and Bamboo), and building automated Cl/CD pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience analyzing user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements

Primary Level Salary Range: $149,300.00 - $234,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
