Job description

Senior / Principal Computational Biologist

What ifyou could join a rapidly growing company and play a critical role in bringing new medicines to patients through looking at and treating disease in a revolutionary way.

What this position is all about:

Are you a highly motivated and detail-oriented computational biologist passionate about understanding complex biological systems and disease through single-cell omics and large-scale patient datasets? This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and application of Cellarity’s platform for drug discovery.

You will be part of a small and dynamic computational team focused on generating high-impact insights. As the computational biology lead embedded in our cross-functional drug discovery programs, you will collaborate closely with world-class computational biologists, machine learning scientists, experimental biologists, chemists, clinicians, and technologists to co-develop hypotheses from cell atlases and advance programs from biological model development through hit identification and lead optimization. Specifically, you will identify disease-associated states in cell atlases, guide development of the in vitro and in vivo systems that model them, use our single-cell AI models to predict chemical entities that revert them to healthy, and build proprietary data assets along the way.

If you're excited about applying your skills to real-world therapeutic challenges, working with proprietary, high-quality datasets, and learning from leading experts across disciplines, we want to hear from you.

What you would be responsible for:

  • Act as the CompBio lead and core team representative on our cross-functional drug programs. Develop & lead data analysis strategies and ideation across diverse projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply computational biology and machine learning tools to generate insights and hypotheses from high-dimensional molecular datasets, with a focus on large-scale scRNA-seq & snRNA-seq disease atlases.
  • Use transcriptomic data across the program lifecycle to develop disease hypothesis, evaluate in vitro and in vivo models, analyze perturbation effects, validate hits and leads, and deconvolute targets and mechanism of actions.
  • Work with experimental scientists to ensure that study designs & data are properly interrogated to deliver high value readouts and actionable insights that directly prioritize next experimental steps.
  • Contribute to internal AI agent development for Cellarity’s scientific use cases.

What experiences will you need:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in biology, computational biology, or related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing and deriving hypotheses from single-cell and bulk transcriptomic data, preferably also with large-scale single-cell atlases.
  • Demonstrated understanding of molecular and systems biology, diverse molecular data types, and analysis tools. Proven ability to bridge wet lab and computational efforts and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Practical programming and scriptingskills, preferably in Python.
  • Fluency with AI tools to accelerate daily scientific work (incl. coding assistants, LLMs, and agentic workflows), while maintaining high scientific rigor over the outputs.
  • Fast learner, analytical thinker, independent, "hands-on", strong communication skills.

What sets you apart:

  • Background in metabolic or liver diseases, autoimmune disease, or hematology.
  • Experience with generating, analyzing, and deriving hypotheses from other single-cell omics data types or large-scale clinical datasets.
  • Experience driving an impactful and relevant project within industry.
  • Background in statistics or machine learning.
  • Experience with clinical or biological data.
  • Interested in learning any of the above

Company Summary: Cellarity’s mission is to fundamentally redesign the way drugs are created for the sake of bringing new hope to patients. By shifting the focus from a single target to the underlying cellular dysfunction, we unravel the complexity of disease biology and create medicines that were never before possible. The company has developed unique capabilities that link biology and chemistry with high dimensional -omic data from which we design medicines against the cellular signature of disease. The Cellarity platform allow us to uncover new biology in diseases even in the absence of known causal targets. The company has drug discovery programs underway in several disease areas, including metabolic disease, hematology, and immunology. Cellarity’s goal is to grow into a fully integrated next generation Biotech company driving a new age in drug creation.

Cellarity is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

The salary range for this role is $179,000 - $236,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Cellarity currently offers healthcare coverage, annual incentive program, retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits. Compensation and benefits information is based on Cellarity's good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
