Job summary

Harnham is seeking a senior/principal Applied AI Engineer to own end-to-end GenAI delivery in a highly applied setting in the United States. Remote or hybrid work options are available, with a competitive salary and a 15% bonus.

You will design, build, and deploy Generative AI applications, develop LLM-powered solutions, and own AI chatbots at production scale. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to drive measurable customer impact.

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience applying GenAI in commercial settings.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and prompt engineering.
• Experience building RAG pipelines and working with vector databases.
• Strong SQL skills and cloud data platform experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy Generative AI applications across client-facing and internal platforms.
• Develop LLM-powered solutions using prompt engineering, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines.
• Build and own AI chatbots and conversational agents to production standards, including performance, scalability and compliance.
• Create AI agents across digital and voice channels for real-time interactions.
• Deliver PoCs for use cases like document understanding, summarisation, and knowledge assistants.
• Optimize model usage, prompts, and parameters for balance of accuracy, cost, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, and partners to align AI solutions with business priorities.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of real, production-grade Generative AI solutions in a highly applied environment. You will work on end-to-end AI delivery, from early prototypes through to scalable deployment, with clear visibility of the impact your work has on customers and internal teams.

The Role

You will be a senior, hands-on contributor within an Applied AI team, responsible for turning GenAI concepts into robust solutions. Key responsibilities include:

Your Skills and Experience

You will bring strong, practical experience applying GenAI in commercial settings, including:

• Advanced Python development skills with modern GenAI and machine learning libraries.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation.
• Proven capability building RAG pipelines and working with vector databases.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with cloud data platforms.
• Experience delivering production-grade conversational AI or chatbot solutions.
• The ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
