Job summary

DNV Energy Systems in North America is seeking a Senior Resource Integration (RI) Engineer in the Renewables & Power Grids group to deliver innovative studies and practical solutions for grid reliability, energy markets, and integration of Solar, Storage, Wind and Gas resources.

Based in Dallas, Houston, Medford, New York, Oakland, Portland, San Diego, Seattle or Austin with a dynamic hybrid schedule three days in the office or at a client site.

Qualifications

  • Experience with steady-state, dynamic and EMT studies for renewables and conventional resources.
  • Ability to lead studies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and customer interaction skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform steady state, dynamic, short-circuit and EMT modeling for renewable and conventional resources (Solar, Storage, Wind, Gas).
  • Lead studies on power flow, transient stability, short-circuit and related areas for transmission/distribution/load/generator applications.
  • Guide script development and ensure high-quality, on-time deliverables; optimize workflows and reduce rework.
  • Collaborate with team members on study requirements, including billable hours and commercial aspects.
  • Serve as SME for grid reliability and energy markets; stay updated on market changes.

DNV Energy Systems is seeking a Senior Resource Integration (RI) Engineer, in the Renewables & Power Grids group. Our team provides creative, cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in the power generation, transmission/distribution systems and hyper scaler loads. The RI Engineer must demonstrate vision and drive and be passionate about contributing to the growth and evolution of the Power Systems Advisory business in North America. The ideal candidate will be aware of market opportunities where we can differentiate and innovate, and they will manage commercial projects, delivering technical insight and delighting customers with excellent customer service.

This role is based at our DNV office in Dallas (TX), Houston (TX), Medford (MA), New York (NY), Oakland (CA), Portland (OR), San Diego (CA), Seattle (WA) or Austin (TX) presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within US.

What You'll Do

  • Perform steady state, dynamic, short-circuit and/or PSCAD model development for renewable and conventional generation resources including Solar, Storage, Wind and Gas turbines
  • Apply experience to independently perform, lead others, and advance collective capabilities in studies for power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, Electromagnetic Transients (EMT), harmonics, techno-economics, and related areas for transmission, distribution, load, and generator applications
  • Lead and advance script development and troubleshooting throughout the study process, ensuring high quality and timely deliverables, minimizing rework and review needs. Identify and implement modifications to more effectively address workloads
  • Collaborate with, lead, and advance capabilities of team members in understanding study requirements, including technical and commercial items, such as billable hours, to ensure high quality and timely deliverables throughout the study process
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for area(s) related to grid reliability and/or energy markets
  • Conduct and lead technical studies for generator interconnection including system impact, feasibility, and deliverability per ISOs/RTOs requirements and methodology
  • Guide and instruct team members using a strong technical understanding of generation (including IBR), transmission, interconnection, customer and load, and modeling principles
  • Actively attend (in person/remote) industry stakeholder meetings and stay up to date with assigned market changes in terms of developments and policy changes
  • Contribute to the team’s research and innovation activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team’s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements
  • Cultivate new customer relationships, and assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP) and provide Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for new tenders/bids/opportunities
