Job summary

Voya Energy in Hayward, CA is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to own the design, build and test of the power system architecture for its metal-fueled generator technology. You will manage power flow between the generator, battery storage, local load and the grid.

The ideal candidate will have a hands-on, engineering-first approach with deep experience in hybrid inverters and DC-DC conversion, and a track record of moving hardware through development to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in system-level power electronics.
• Experience with UL 1741 and IEEE 1547 and high-power inverters.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test power system architecture for metal-fueled generator technology.
• Design the switching logic to allow grid-tied operation.
• Create system electrical schematics and ensure safety standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, automation, data and controls teams.
• Perform development testing and validation of assemblies.
