Vicinity Energy in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Lead Power Plant Technician to operate a combined cycle facility and related equipment with minimal supervision. The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires UWUA Local 369 union membership.

The hourly wage is set at $67.42, with a rotating shift schedule and strict adherence to safety and environmental permits. Ideal candidates will have a MA Second Class Engineer's License, a MA Grade 2 Industrial Wastewater License within six months,

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Active MA Second Class Engineer's License.
Must obtain MA Grade 2 Industrial Wastewater License in first 6 months.
Minimum of 6 years operating gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and boilers.
Know how plant operations relate to energy markets.

Responsibilities

Operate the combined cycle facility and plant equipment with minimal guidance.
Keep management informed of operations, unusual conditions and faults.
Operate equipment via control room interfaces or locally.
Take readings, maintain records and logs.
Document issues and maintenance actions in work orders.
Coordinate with commercial operations, NStar, ISO and others.
Help develop operating procedures and ensure safe operation.
Open/close valves and breakers for proper system operation.
Assist in troubleshooting plant control systems and comply with safety programs.
Lead shift briefings and coordinate with contractors and staff.
