Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer in the Greater Seattle Area to lead avionics hardware development across the product life cycle, including boards and assemblies for spaceflight systems.

The role requires 5+ years in electronics hardware, proficiency with high-power HV DC-DC converters, and experience with LTspice, PSpice, SIMetrix, and Altium/Cadence tools. Strong communication and safety-oriented mindset are essential.

Qualifications

Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.As part of a small, hard-working and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for avionics controller hardware architecture for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of avionics engineering product development. Passion for our mission and vision is required! **Responsibilities:** * Develop avionics hardware (boards and integrated assemblies). Have a solid understanding of the entire product life-cycle, including concept and requirements definition, design, prototyping, verification (power-on, functional / acceptance / qualification testing) and release to production.* Develop analog and digital boards that interact with avionics systems (including power electronics, compute, networking, antennas sensors and electromechanical/electrohydraulic actuators); including analysis, schematic capture, layout, design review, test/verification and release.* Support avionics architecture trades studies, analyses, performance characterization and specification, device selection, and controller roadmap direction.* Support risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.* Participate in program level technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives, and avionics development process improvements.**Qualifications:** * Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with 5+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware development* Experienced in selecting power-stage topologies and control schemes, including both isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters. * Direct hands-on experience developing high power/high voltage DC-DC power converters, switches, circuit protection, etc. * Proficient in circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, PSpice, SIMetrix) for feasibility and verification. Including transient analysis, in-rush analysis, stress analysis and stability analysis. * Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, design, test, debug, signal integrity, power, grounding and/or board layout.* Experience with Si, GaN and SiC devices. * Highly organized with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal) **Preferred Qualifications:** * Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field with 10+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware development* Direct experience designing power electronics for satellite or space hardware applications* Proven expertise designing high-reliability, safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; including familiarity with IPC 6xx and NASA-STD-8739.n (or similar) standards.* Proficiency using Altium/Cadence OrCAD / Allegro (or similar tools) to design complex aerospace boards; and experience working with external board manufacturing and assembly vendors.* Exposure to designing safety or critically important aerospace flight hardware aligned with DO-254.* Exposure to development of high-reliability, radiation-tolerant, radiation-hardened flight hardware intended for prolonged exposure to extreme space environments ### Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45**Other site ranges may differ** **Culture Statement**Don’t meet all desired requirements?
