Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Power Delivery team in North Carolina, based in Charlotte or Raleigh. You will oversee power transmission, distribution, substations, settings, design, and construction support for utilities and private clients in the Southeast.

You will direct multi-discipline teams, manage multiple projects, and nurture client relations while coordinating with marketing, design and production staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 10 years related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multi-discipline teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
  • Establish and maintain client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development with staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure completion of deliverables on schedule and track financial aspects of projects.
  • Develop proposals and estimates for project pursuits.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Supervise large project staffs and mentor less-experienced PMs.

HDR currently has a need for a Senior Project Manager to join the Power Delivery team in North Carolina, to be based in either our Charlotte or Raleigh office. This individual will be responsible for management and technical oversight of power transmission, distribution, substation, settings, design, and construction support projects for utilities and other private sector clients throughout the Southeast.

In this role we'll count on you to:

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out).
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule.
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
  • Develop proposals and estimates for project pursuits.
  • Implement Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of power delivery project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, local candidates are preferred
  • Willingness to perform periodic travel for field work and site visits
  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required
Required Qualifications

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
