Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Power Controls Engineer in the United States to design and implement advanced control algorithms for high-performance power electronic systems. You will own the control architecture for DC/DC converters, inverters, and motor drives using discrete SiC and GaN devices, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams.

The role emphasizes model-based design, Simulink/PLECS modeling, and hardware-in-the-loop validation, with security clearance prerequisites

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years designing and tuning digital control loops for power electronic converters.
• Proficiency in Simulink and/or PLECS for control modeling, simulation, and analysis.
• Strong foundation in control theory - z-domain/s-domain, bode analysis, state-space, and discrete-time implementations.
• Hands-on experience with discrete SiC and/or GaN FET-based power stages in multi-kW range.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, 464, 810, or DO-160 in military/aerospace contexts.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and validate closed-loop control algorithms for switch-mode power converters and inverters using Simulink and/or PLECS.
• Develop control for 3-phase AC systems with/without switched Neutral.
• Create plant models and controller architectures for multi-kW power stages with SiC/GaN FETs.
• Perform stability analysis, loop shaping, and compensator design to meet targets.
• Collaborate with power hardware engineers on gate drive tuning and switching-loss characterization.
• Support model-based code generation and translate designs into embedded implementations.
• Define and run hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and power-hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) tests.
• Contribute to topology, modulation strategy, and control bandwidth trade studies.
