Aboutthe Role
We'relooking for an experienced Power BI Developer to join our BI/DataAnalytics team, supporting a large-scale enterprise semantic model built on MicrosoftFabric and Snowflake. You'll work on a mission-critical reportingplatform serving sales, labor, attendance, and financial reconciliation acrossthe organization, with a strong focus on performance optimization, datamodeling best practices, and scalable report development.
KeyResponsibilities
- Design, build,and maintainPower BI semantic modelsusingTMDLandPBIP(Git-integrated) project format— no reliance on manual.pbix-only workflows.
- Develop andoptimizeDAX measures, calculated columns, hierarchies, andrelationships across large (multi-GB, 80M+ row) fact tables.
- Implement andmaintainincremental refresh policies(rollingwindow/incremental partitioning) to manage large historical datasetsefficiently.
- Diagnose andresolverefresh failures, memory/capacity issues, and performancebottlenecks(VertiPaq Analyzer, DAX Studio, Fabric CapacityMetrics).
- Design andapplysurrogate key strategiesto reduce model size andimprove query/relationship performance on high-cardinality columns.
- Build andmaintainPower BI reportsfollowing establisheddesign/SSA standards (report chrome, slicers, drill-through, bookmarks,conditional formatting).
- Collaboratewithdata engineeringteams onSnowflake/dbtpipelinesfeeding the semantic model; troubleshoot source-to-model datareconciliation issues.
- Managedeployments acrossDEV/PROD workspacesviadeploymentpipelinesandGit-based version control(branching,PRs, code review).
- UsePowerShell/ REST APIs(Enhanced Refresh API, XMLA endpoint) to automaterefresh operations, monitor refresh history, and script recovery/reloadprocedures.
- Performrootcause analysison data discrepancies, broken relationships,blank/missing values, and reporting anomalies; document findings clearlyfor stakeholders.
- ManageRow-LevelSecurity (RLS), workspace/app permissions, and capacity (SKU) planningfor Fabric/Premium.
- Partner withbusiness stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable model andreport designs; write clear documentation and user stories (Jira/Agile).
RequiredSkills & Experience
- 6+ years hands-onexperience withPower BI(Desktop, Service,Premium/Fabric capacities).
- Strongproficiency inDAXandPower Query (M),including complex measures, time intelligence, and native queryoptimization.
- Deepunderstanding ofsemantic model design: star schema,relationships, cardinality, VertiPaq storage engine, and performancetuning techniques.
- Experiencewithincremental refresh, large fact table management,andmemory/capacity troubleshootingin Premium/Fabricenvironments.
- Working knowledgeofSnowflake(SQL, views, warehouses) and ideallydbtforsource data transformations.
- ExperiencewithGit-based Power BI development(PBIP/TMDL format),branching strategies, and pull request workflows.
- FamiliaritywithPowerShellandPower BI REST APIsforrefresh automation and administration.
- Strong analyticaland debugging skills — ability to trace issues from report visuals throughDAX/relationships back to source data.
