Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to own PostgreSQL performance, availability, scalability, and security for a mission-critical government program in Washington, DC. Role requires a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and is fully on-site.

Responsibilities include designing and tuning PostgreSQL databases, implementing HA/DR, backups, security controls, and CI/CD automation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on database administration experience.
• 5+ years of recent, deep expertise in PostgreSQL.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, manage, and tune PostgreSQL databases in an enterprise environment.
• Own high availability and disaster recovery configurations for PostgreSQL environments.
• Perform database performance tuning, backups, replication, and recovery.
• Enforce database security controls, including encryption, key management, and auditing.
• Enforce access controls, auditing, governance, and retention policies.
• Manage schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and permissions.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters and support containerized database and application operations.
• Administer CI/CD pipelines and automation supporting database and application delivery.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborative delivery activities.
• Support production operations with urgency and operational discipline.
• Communicate technical risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 10+ years of hands-on database administration experience, including at least 5 years of recent, deep expertise in PostgreSQL. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, scalability, and security of PostgreSQL database environments supporting a mission-critical government program. The ideal candidate can own core PostgreSQL responsibilities on day one, ramp quickly on program-specific tooling, and build strong customer trust through technical expertise and reliability. This role requires an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and is fully on-site in Washington, DC.

What You Will Do:

• Design, implement, manage, and tune PostgreSQL databases in an enterprise environment.

What We Require:

• Active Top Secret clearance with current or previously held SCI access
• 10+ years of hands-on database administration experience
• 5+ years of recent experience as a DBA or database engineer with a primary focus on PostgreSQL
• Experience with PostgreSQL high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and performance tuning in enterprise environments
• Experience enforcing database security controls (encryption, key management, auditing)
• Experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
• DoD 8140-compliant certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, or higher)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute
• Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC

Preferred:

• Master’s degree
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, Amazon RDS)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar
