Nelnet is seeking a Senior Portfolio Performance Analyst to translate complex credit and capital markets information into actionable insights for senior leadership. The role emphasizes NFS portfolios and partnerships linked to securitized deals, forward flow, joint ventures, and whole-loan portfolios.

Collaboration with Capital Markets, BI, and Finance is essential to improve business decisions and risk assessment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant professional experience in portfolio management, credit, finance, risk, analytics, or a related field.
• Experience with securitized portfolios, forward flow partnerships, joint ventures, or similar capital markets structures.
• Knowledge of credit and portfolio performance concepts, including delinquency, losses, prepayments, and vintage performance.
• Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive conclusions from complex data.
• Clear written and verbal communication with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to build effective working relationships across business and technical teams.
• Independence, curiosity, and sound judgment when navigating ambiguity.
• Proficiency with Excel, SQL, and related analytic tools.
• Experience using AI in research, analysis, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Capital Markets and stakeholders to define objectives, frame questions, and support informed decisions.
• Monitor portfolio performance and capital markets activity, surfacing risks, opportunities, and triggering events.
• Investigate complex portfolio and credit questions and communicate findings to leadership.
• Develop and maintain frameworks for evaluating performance, drivers, and risks.
• Define reporting requirements and partner with BI on dashboards and data quality issues.
• Leverage AI and modern analytical tools to accelerate research and communication.
