Job description

QUICK SUMMARY

You’ll lead forms drafting for your line of business. Own personal auto or property base forms architecture and drive new state packages from research to filing, with attorney review. 5+ years of forms drafting required.

WHO WE ARE

Kin makes life simpler, more affordable, and better for homeowners — especially in the places where climate risks, rising costs, and outdated systems make it hardest. We start with smarter homeowners insurance and expand to everything homeowners need to thrive.

Using data, technology, and thoughtful human support, we're building products that are clear, fair, and help homeowners feel confident — so homeowners aren't left behind when they need help most.

Founded in 2016, Kin is a remote-first employer with Kinfolk across more than 35 states. We serve customers in 14 states (and counting). Our disciplined growth, strong customer satisfaction, and focus on long-term sustainability fosters outstanding growth, attracts marquee investors, and earns recognition and accolades, including:

  • Built In Chicago's Best Places to Work, Midsize Companies (2021-2026)
  • Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers (2026)
  • Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies
  • Forbes' Fintech 50 (2023-2026)
  • Great Places to Work Certified (2024-2026)

Most importantly, we're building Kin to be a place where people do meaningful work with real impact — for our customers, our communities, and each other. We're excited to tell you more about how you can contribute to our rapid growth, strong unit economics, profitability, and excellent customer ratings. THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Policy Forms Senior Analyst to help us keep pace with aggressive state and product expansion by drafting the forms every launch depends on. Kin is entering new states and launching new products now, and that pace will continue through 2027 and beyond. A new state can't open until its full form set is drafted, which puts this role on the critical path for growth.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Tackle the most complex new-state packages, including states with extensive or ambiguous statutory requirements, and develop the drafting approach for the team.
  • Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and required notices, ready for filing.
  • Build and maintain the countrywide base forms and reusable state kit for your line. For personal auto, that includes UM and UIM, PIP, selection and rejection forms, and state notices. For property, it includes homeowners, manufactured home, condo, and flood, including surplus lines notices where applicable.
  • Research state statutes and regulations directly and translate them into compliant, clear policy wording.
  • Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and participate in regulatory discussions alongside counsel.
  • Own your drafts from first research to attorney-approved final, working independently.
  • Establish drafting standards and reusable language that make each new state package faster to produce than the last.
  • Lead internal knowledge sharing on Kin's policy forms in your line of business.
  • Serve as the backup drafter for the other lines of business, so no launch depends on a single person.
  • Use and evaluate Kin’s AI-assisted research and drafting tools—including tools for competitor research, automated formatting, and AI-assisted statutory research—as part of the daily drafting workflow. Apply human judgment to assess AI-generated output, flag areas requiring review, and identify opportunities to improve tool accuracy, coverage, and effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update the forms packages in your assigned line of business, revising them in response to new statutes, regulations, and DOI bulletins, and to product enhancements and coverage changes.
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You'll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin's mission forward. Along the way, you'll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.

By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make.

  • Multiple complete state and product forms packages for your line of business have been developed and delivered for filing.
  • You are the go-to subject matter expert on Kin's policy forms in your line of business.
  • A filing deadline can be met even when one drafter is out, because you can step into the other line of business.
  • Drafting standards and reusable templates you created are actively used by the team.
  • Your drafts consistently move to filing with minimal rework after legal review.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • 5+ years of policy form drafting experience
  • Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states
  • Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations directly and converting requirements into policy language
  • Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings
  • Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, with attorney review as the only check
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex or ambiguous statutory requirements with minimal guidance
Bonus if you have
  • Experience with Kin's lines of business: personal auto (UM and UIM, PIP, selection and rejection forms, state notices) or property (homeowners, condo, manufactured home, flood, or surplus lines notices)
HOW WE HIRE

We believe a great hiring experience should be clear, respectful, and human. We will accept applications for this position until November 15th, 2026. While our recruiting team uses AI tools for efficiency, resumes are still screened by Kin's in-house recruiters, and candidate evaluations and hiring decisions are made by recruiters and hiring teams. Rest assured, real people make real decisions.

The hiring process and timeline for each role will vary, depending on the position. However, here are some things you can expect from us:

  • Prompt updates and feedback following interviews
  • Interviews with recruiters, hiring managers, and members of teams
  • Skills assessment relevant to the position, if applicable
  • Genuine, thoughtful human interaction at every step
HOW WE SUPPORT YOU

We offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits program, allowing you to choose the benefits that are best for you and your family, starting on the first day of the month following your start date.

Core Benefits
  • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of our standard compensation package and based on role and level
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings
  • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage
  • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection)
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
