Job summary

Subject is building one of the fastest-growing media brands in education, sports, and creator content. We seek a Senior Podcast Producer to own the entire production process—from concept development and guest bookings to recording, post-production, and distribution.

You will help build a media brand that reaches millions of educators, athletes, parents, and students, contributing to growth across multiple platforms and formats in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience producing podcasts or creator-led media.
• Willing to put in 70+ hours a week to build something great, move fast, and make your mark.
• Proven experience managing productions from concept through publication.
• Exceptional storytelling instincts and interview preparation skills.
• Strong understanding of YouTube strategy, audience retention, and content packaging.
• Experience coordinating talent, guests, production schedules, and post-production teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end production of On The Subject with Mike Vilardo.
• Manage weekly production schedule from guest outreach to episode launch.
• Research guests and develop interview angles, talking points, and outlines.
• Lead pre-production planning, run-of-show documents, and recording logistics.
• Direct live recordings for engaging conversations and high production quality.
• Collaborate to refine episode structure, storytelling, and audience engagement.
• Identify viral moments and coordinate with editing for clips, thumbnails, titles, and packaging.
• Oversee long-form and short-form post-production workflows and deadlines.
• Manage guest communications and publishing timelines.
• Track performance across YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and social platforms.
• Stay ahead of creator and YouTube trends and test new formats.
• Coordinate studio operations, equipment, freelancers, and vendors; help scale production systems.

Led by CEO Michael Vilardo, On The Subject features conversations with elite athletes, coaches, founders, executives, and industry leaders. We're looking for a Senior Podcast Producer who can own the entire production process—from developing episode concepts and booking guests to overseeing recording, post-production, and distribution.

This is more than producing a podcast. You\'ll help build a media brand that reaches millions of educators, athletes, parents, and students.

Ideal Candidate

You consume podcasts because you\'re fascinated by why they work—not just who the guest is. You study creators like Diary of a CEO, Colin & Samir, Call Her Daddy, The Joe Rogan Experience, All-In, and My First Million to understand storytelling, pacing, audience retention, and packaging. You\'re constantly thinking about better guests, stronger hooks, more engaging conversations, and smarter ways to grow a media brand.

What You\'ll Do

As our Senior Podcast Producer, you\'ll own the end-to-end production of On The Subject with Mike Vilardo while helping shape the future of Subject\'s creator and media strategy.

Responsibilities include:

• Own the weekly production schedule from guest outreach through episode launch.
• Research guests and develop compelling interview angles, talking points, and episode outlines.
• Lead pre-production planning, run-of-show documents, and recording logistics.
• Direct live recordings to ensure engaging conversations and high production quality.
• Collaborate with Michael Vilardo to refine episode structure, storytelling, and audience engagement.
• Identify viral moments and coordinate with the editing team on clips, thumbnails, titles, and packaging.
• Oversee long-form and short-form post-production workflows to ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage guest communications before and after recordings, including promotional assets and publishing timelines.
• Track YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and social performance to improve future episodes.
• Stay ahead of creator, podcast, and YouTube trends while continuously testing new formats and ideas.
• Coordinate studio operations, production equipment, freelancers, and vendors as needed.
• Help build scalable production systems as the media team grows.

• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and post-production workflows (editing experience is a plus but not required).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
