Job summary

University of Connecticut’s Facilities Operations, Storrs Campus, invites applications for Qualified Craft Worker (Plumbing and Steamfitting). Positions are full-time, 37.5 hours weekly with 1st/2nd/3rd shift options and on-public competition.

Salary range $65,516.00–$84,235.00 yearly; NP-2 carry different rates, and a strong benefits package is provided. Currently open to the public; preference to NP-2 Plumbing employees and those with a valid P-1 or P-2 license.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of General Experience performing skilled plumbing and steamfitting trades.
• State of Connecticut P-1 or P-2 license required and must be retained throughout employment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints for building and utility systems.
• Incumbents must have the ability to perform physical duties and drive a vehicle as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly skilled plumbing and steamfitting trade tasks.
• Assembles, installs and repairs air, gas, water, steam and sewer systems.
• Covers and insulates tanks, pipes and related objects; tests joints.
• Responds to emergencies and participates in on-call rotations as required.
