Job summary

Upchurch Companies in Mississippi is seeking a Fabrication Shop Plumbing Foreman to lead daily shop operations, supervise plumbing fabrication, ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You will read drawings, manage materials, and coordinate with project managers and field teams to keep projects on schedule.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, mentoring staff, and enforcing OSHA standards, with strong knowledge of plumbing systems, off-site fabrication, and BIM/VDC tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in plumbing or construction preferred.
• Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent field experience preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial plumbing experience, including supervisory or foreman experience in a fabrication or construction environment.
• Experience with off-site prefabrication and modular construction processes strongly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, fabrication techniques, materials, and applicable plumbing codes.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively lead shop personnel and collaborate with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily plumbing fabrication shop operations to meet production schedules, project deadlines, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work activities, manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize shop productivity and efficiency.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, Stratus 3D models, BOMs, and fabrication documents to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and inspection of plumbing systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and codes.
• Ensure fabricated assemblies are completed accurately and prepared for timely delivery to project sites.
• Lead, mentor, and develop shop personnel through training and feedback while promoting teamwork and accountability.
• Enforce all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and best practices in the fabrication shop.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and monitor safe work practices, including proper PPE usage.
• Monitor production metrics and identify opportunities to improve fabrication efficiency and reduce waste.
• Coordinate material requirements with purchasing and warehouse to support production schedules.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and safe use of fabrication equipment and tools.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, BIM/VDC personnel and field teams to support schedules.
• Utilize computer systems for project tracking, scheduling, inventory management, document control, and communication.
• Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and shop reporting.
• Participate in production planning meetings and provide updates on shop progress and challenges.
• Perform other duties to support fabrication operations and project success.
