Job summary

CMTA, a Legence company, seeks a Senior Plumbing Engineer for our Lafayette, CA office. The candidate will lead plumbing design on energy-efficient projects, collaborate with the team, and guide the project from design through construction administration.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years in piping design, Revit proficiency, and strong problem-solving skills to resolve complex engineering challenges on diverse client projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience in MEP design.
  • Piping and equipment layout using Revit.
  • Flow tests and engineering calculations.
  • Experience laying out waste/vent piping and domestic water and storm piping.
  • Determine preliminary fire/domestic water requirements for various building types.
  • Experience from design through construction administration phases.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Reviewing and marking up others' drawings.
  • Generating electronic responses to questions and reviews.
  • Attending meetings with owners, clients, and architects.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to staff engineers on design.
  • Reviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings for conformance with codes.
  • Evaluating, selecting and applying standard engineering techniques for piping layout and sizing.
  • Confer with engineers to implement procedures and resolve system deficiencies.
  • Researching client design proposal specs to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance.
  • Specifying system components or directing modification to ensure conformance with design.
  • Developing client relations through feedback to design engineers.

Job Description

CMTA, a Legence company is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer for our Lafayette, CA office with 5+ years of experience in plumbing design and engineering. This person will work closely with our plumbing engineering team on energy efficient projects for various clients. Our ideal candidate should be a self-motivated individual with a technical background who thrives on resolving challenges, assisting clients, and leading all phases of the project.

Salary

Salary: $115,000 - 150,000 (dependent on experience)

Work Schedule

Work Schedule: Hybrid — 3 days in-office, 2 days remote

Desired Experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience - MEP Design
  • Piping and equipment layout using Revit
  • Flow tests and engineering calculations
  • Laying out waste/vent piping; domestic hot/cold piping; and storm piping
  • Determine preliminary fire/domestic water requirements for various building types
  • This position entails providing workable solutions designing plumbing systems for buildings from the design phase through the construction administration phase as needed.

  • Conferring with other engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures; resolve system deficiencies and provide technical information.
  • Researching and analyzing client design proposal specifications, manuals, and other criteria to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of the design or application.
  • Specifying system components or directing modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance.
  • Developing client relations through feedback to design engineers on customer concerns and needs.
Desired Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Licensed Engineer a plus but not a requirement
