Job summary

Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) in Augusta, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Senior Plumber to join our team to assist with skilled maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment. The role requires advanced plumbing knowledge, ability to read blueprints, and the capacity to work physically demanding shifts

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with commercial and/or institutional plumbing, steam equipment, fire sprinklers, related appliances, welding, soldering, plumbing code and safety standards
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized trade equipment
• Competent understanding of building systems, mechanical equipment, and facility infrastructure
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices and procedures related to plumbing
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and specifications
• Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems ( CMMS ) and work order tracking (or ability to easily learn)
• Working knowledge across multiple trades disciplines
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication, organization and time management skills
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working in elevated spaces
• Valid driver’s license, full background check and driving record check are all required

Responsibilities

• Install, alter, maintain, and repair plumbing apparatuses (sinks, toilets, showers, faucets, valves, pumps, water heaters, automatic fittings)
• Make repairs and alterations to piping systems
• Clear drain lines using various equipment
• Maintain, install, and repair appliances including washing/dishwashing machines and water fountains
• Assist other trades and perform general maintenance
• Assist with event setups, office moves, snow removal and other tasks
