Job summary

The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is recruiting five Plumbers to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in City facilities, reading blueprints and coordinating with contractors. You will inspect, repair, and test components, ensuring compliance with codes and maintaining records of work performed.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm. A valid New York driver license is required by appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Five years of full-time plumber experience within the last ten years.
• Alternate path: three years plus apprenticeship or schooling to reach five years.
• Must possess a valid New York driver license and maintain it during employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including piping, fittings, fixtures, and drainage.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine layouts.
• Inspect plumbing systems for leaks, clogs, or worn parts and repair.
• Test plumbing systems for leaks and maintain records of work performed.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with contractors on installation projects.
