Job summary
Siemens is seeking a Senior PLC Commissioning Technician for Data Centers to lead startup, checkout, commissioning, validation, and customer acceptance activities on data center automation projects in the Dallas area.
You will support testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, review drawings, and coordinate with project teams, vendors, and customers to ensure successful handover and ongoing facility operation.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in commissioning, controls, automation, building automation, or mission-critical facility infrastructure.
- 5+ years hands-on PLC programming, configuration, troubleshooting, startup and commissioning.
- Able to read electrical schematics, control drawings and operation sequences.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% and work in the United States without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Participate in startup, checkout, commissioning, validation, and customer acceptance activities for data center automation projects.
- Support installation verification, panel checkout, I/O validation, loop testing, and functional performance testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLC controllers, field devices, instrumentation, networking, and control panels.
- Assist with startup of facility automation systems for cooling, electrical distribution, backup power and environmental monitoring.
- Review drawings, specifications, network architectures, sequences of operation and commissioning docs.
- Support FAT, SAT, functional testing and customer witness activities.
- Document deficiencies, corrective actions, results, backups and turnover docs.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, vendors, service personnel, and customer representatives.

- Participate in startup, checkout, commissioning, validation, and customer acceptance activities for data center automation projects.
- Support installation verification, panel checkout, point-to-point testing, I/O validation, loop testing, and functional performance testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLC controllers, field devices, instrumentation, networking components, control panels, and integrated automation systems.
- Assist with startup and commissioning of facility automation systems associated with cooling, electrical distribution, backup power, environmental monitoring, and critical infrastructure systems.
- Review project drawings, specifications, network architectures, sequences of operation, control schematics, and commissioning documentation.
- Support integrated systems testing including FAT, SAT, functional testing, and customer witness activities.
- Perform system diagnostics and validate operation of PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, network communications, and automation interfaces.
- Coordinate technical activities with project teams, contractors, vendors, service personnel, and customer representatives.
- Document deficiencies, corrective actions, commissioning results, software backups, redlines, and turnover documentation.
- Support customer training and project closeout activities.
- Assist with service transition and lifecycle readiness activities to ensure successful long‑term operation of installed systems.
- Serve as a technical resource supporting continuous improvement initiatives and best practices for data center automation delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, technical degree, military training, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience supporting commissioning, controls, automation, building automation, industrial controls, electrical systems, or mission‑critical facility infrastructure.
- 5+ years of hands‑on PLC programming, configuration, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning experience.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and automation technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret: electrical schematics, control drawings, specifications, network architectures, and sequence of operations documentation
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, or validation of complex automation systems.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

The pay range for this position is $74,939 - $128,467 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
