Job summary

EvenUp Inc is hiring a Senior Platform Foundation Engineer to lead the architecture of core platform capabilities powering the whole system. You will own the stack from design through deployment, enabling other teams with APIs, data exports, and streaming capabilities.

This role emphasizes building resilient systems for massive data flows, collaborating with backend engineers, product owners, and designers to deliver scalable, secure solutions. A hybrid model operates from SF or Toronto hubs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building core platforms or infrastructure systems that other teams depend on.
• Strong foundation in building resilient, well-architected code and systems to handle large data volumes.
• Skilled in designing APIs, data export, and streaming systems that are secure and performant.
• Fluent in SQL and relational databases; capable of designing scalable data models.
• Security and performance mindset in design decisions from data access patterns to system architecture.
• Fluent in multiple programming languages; proficiency in TypeScript and Python preferred.
• Excellent communication to translate complex ideas into actionable plans.
• Bonus: experience in AI, legal tech, and social impact projects.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage in the full project lifecycle across the stack, with ownership from conception to deployment.
• Architect and build core infrastructure to manage large, high-throughput data flows across systems.
• Enable other engineering teams by delivering core platform functionality, including APIs, data export, and streaming capabilities.
• Design for configurability to empower teams to build on top of the platform without reinventing it.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, product owners, and designers to develop efficient, innovative solutions.
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into scalable technical designs.
• Document technical interfaces and convert specifications into design plans.
• Optimize platform performance, reliability, and security to support scale.
