Job summary

BCBSA is seeking a senior software engineering leader to design, develop, and support cloud-native and hybrid cloud applications. You will serve as the senior technical authority for the Microsoft 365 platform, guiding architecture, security, governance, automation, and strategic direction.

You will align cloud initiatives with business objectives, champion platform modernization, and provide expert escalation for complex technology issues.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or higher with related IT field.
• Experience: 7+ years in web, web service, API architectures, and cloud.
• Experience leading cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Experience defining architecture standards, governance, roadmaps, tenant configuration, lifecycle management.
• Experience with security controls, automation, integrations, monitoring, and reporting.
• Experience owning platform operations and vendor oversight.
• Automation experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, PowerShell or similar.
• Experience with IaC tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Bicep.

Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for the design, development, and support of applications in available hybrid cloud environments. The role involves implementing stable, cloud-native applications and automating DevOps processes for provisioning, deployment, and monitoring activities in PaaS/IaaS environments.

This specific role will serve as the senior technical authority for the Microsoft 365 platform, responsible for architecture, engineering, security, governance, automation, and strategic direction. The position designs and oversees scalable, secure, and supportable solutions, provides expert leadership for platform modernization and adoption, and serves as the highest level of technical escalation. The role ensures the Microsoft 365 environment is aligned with business objectives and can be effectively operated and supported by internal teams and managed service providers.

Job Description:

Project Requirements and Design Gaps:

Translate project requirements from architecture/environment diagrams. Identify and remediate design gaps. Review and transform security solutions into cloud infrastructure designs.

Qualifications:

  • Required 7+ Years software development in web, web service, API architectures, and cloud
  • Microsoft 365 engineering experience, including enterprise‑scale environments supporting 5,000+ users, and a proven track record leading cloud migration and modernization initiatives such as tenant‑to‑tenant migrations, hybrid‑to‑cloud transformations, and large‑scale platform modernization
  • Experience defining architecture standards, governance, roadmaps, tenant configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience designing and implementing security controls, compliance solutions, automation, integrations, monitoring, and operational reporting.
  • Experience owning platform operations, service standards, vendor oversight, and serving as an escalation point for complex technology platform issues.
  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Powershell or other automation environments and scripting technologies.
  • Experience with IaC frameworks such as Terraform, AWS Cloudformation, or AWS CDK, and/or Bicep.
  • Experience moving workloads from on premise to IaaS (Openstack, AWS, Rackspace, Azure, Druva etc.)
  • Experience with network technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tool
