Job summary

Apple Inc. in New York City seeks a Senior Software Platform Engineer to design and build the internal developer platform used by Wallet, Payments and Commerce teams. You will own APIs, write production code in Go/Java/C++, and ensure the platform scales reliably across regions.

You will work on Kubernetes-native services, declarative provisioning, testing, on-call ownership, and AI-assisted development. The role emphasizes collaboration, high engineering standards, and privacy and security

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Proficient in Go, Java, Kotlin or C++ with strong API design and concurrency.
• A real testing practice with regression-focused tests.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud providers.
• Experience writing Kubernetes controllers or operators.
• Familiar with declarative configuration and IaC tools.
• Fluency with LLM-based development tooling and coding agents.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Kubernetes-native services, controllers and APIs in Go.
• Turn complex infrastructure provisioning into simple declarative APIs.
• Make the platform fast and predictable at scale across regions.
• Raise the engineering bar through testing and code reviews.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and implement permanent fixes.
• Work AI-forward with LLM-based tooling and coding agents.
