Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform team in the United States. You will design and deliver scalable platform services, cloud infrastructure, and developer tooling to support the Fanatics digital platform, including CI/CD, observability, and IaC using Terraform.

You will own operational health, lead incident response and root cause analysis, mentor engineers, and drive improvements across deployments in cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with backend and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
• Experience running workloads in Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability practices (logging, metrics, alerting).

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform team based in the United States. Our team is responsible for providing engineering teams with the platform and tooling responsible for deploying and running the core critical services that power the entire Fanatics business. You will play a key role in delivering several initiatives across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, observability, and internal developer tooling.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will design and deliver well-scoped platform projects, breaking requirements into executable work for yourself and your teammates. You will build reliable, extensible systems, own the operational health of the services you run, and lead incident response and root cause analysis to reduce recurring issues. You will communicate plans and technical decisions clearly with cross-functional peers, propose improvements to team tooling and practices, and mentor and onboard other engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable platform services and infrastructure supporting Fanatics’ technology ecosystem.
• Build and improve developer tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows to streamline software delivery.
• Contribute to observability initiatives, including logging, metrics, and alerting, to improve system reliability and incident response.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform to ensure consistent and secure environments.
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.
• Partner with application and platform teams to improve performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud-native environments.
• Participate in incident response, post-incident reviews, and reliability improvements.
• Advocate for best practices in infrastructure, software delivery, and operational excellence.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Continuously learn and apply new technologies and approaches to platform engineering challenges.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong software engineering background with experience in backend systems and distributed architectures.
• Solid understanding of the AWS cloud platform and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
• Experience running workloads in Kubernetes and containerized production environments.
• Working knowledge of observability tools and practices, including logging, metrics, and alerting.
• Experience participating in incident management and operational support for production systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Python is preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Pragmatic, outcome-oriented mindset focused on delivering reliable platform solutions.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Salary Range

$170,000—$212,500 USD
