Job summary

Mintlify in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to own critical systems from architecture through production. You’ll set technical direction, raise the quality bar, and help engineers build and operate software faster and more reliably.

You have at least 4 years of professional software development experience and deep platform expertise in cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, distributed systems, CI/CD, observability, and scaling production services.

• Platform expertise: deep experience with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, distributed systems, CI/CD, observability, and operating large-scale production software.
• You have led critical infrastructure projects from architecture through production.
• You make thoughtful tradeoffs across reliability, developer velocity, performance, security, and cost.
• You have strong product intuition and care about the developer experience created by the systems you build.
• You are comfortable working across infrastructure and application code to solve problems completely.
• You have experience mentoring engineers, sharing technical knowledge, and improving practices across a team.
• Plus: Experience with parts of our stack, including AWS, MongoDB, Postgres, Redis, and Node.js.

• Set the direction for developer velocity: Improve how the team builds, tests, deploys, and operates software, leading the migrations needed to get there.
• Scale the platform for what’s next: Evolve our compute, databases, queues, caching, and edge systems as our products and customer base grow.
• Drive operational excellence: Improve observability, incident response, and operational automation while eliminating sources of on-call toil.
• Raise the engineering bar: Review designs, establish technical standards, mentor engineers, and make the broader team more effective.
• Lead multi-cloud deployments across regional and customer-managed environments.
• Build AI-first developer tools and redesign APIs for agent-driven traffic.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll own critical systems from architecture through production. You’ll set technical direction, raise the quality bar, and help engineers build and operate software faster and more reliably.

What you'll work on here

You’ll lead the development of the systems that run Mintlify, taking ambiguous platform problems from first principles to production.

• Own critical platform systems: Architect and operate the infrastructure, services, and tooling that Mintlify’s engineers and products depend on.
• Set the direction for developer velocity: Improve how the team builds, tests, deploys, and operates software, leading the migrations needed to get there.
• Scale the platform for what’s next: Evolve our compute, databases, queues, caching, and edge systems as our products and customer base grow.
• Drive operational excellence: Improve observability, incident response, and operational automation while eliminating sources of on-call toil.
• Raise the engineering bar: Review designs, establish technical standards, mentor engineers, and make the broader team more effective.

You’ll have the chance to lead projects like:

• Re-architecting the Mintlify backend to support new levels of updates and traffic.
• Supporting multi-cloud deployments across regional and customer-managed environments.
• Building AI-first developer tools and redesigning APIs for agent-driven traffic.

Compensation Range: $190K - $265K
