Job summary

Flourish Ventures is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join Propel's Developer Enablement Team. You will enhance cloud native platforms, run fault-tolerant applications in Kubernetes and AWS, and improve developer experience through CI/CD and internal tooling.

We value 5+ years in relevant fields, proficiency in Python/Go, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS. Remote-first with strong compensation and equity options.

Job description

The Role

We’re looking for a self‑motivated Senior Platform Engineer to join our Developer Enablement Team within the engineering organization at Propel. This role empowers other engineers by improving the cloud native platforms that enable development and delivery of Propel’s technology. Your focus will be on running fault‑tolerant applications in Kubernetes and AWS, experimenting with developer experience improvements, and solving organization‑wide engineering problems.

What you will do:

• Own our fundamental cloud services and tooling. Manage cloud networks, security policies, and low‑level services while provisioning infrastructure with Terraform.
• Own our application platform. Administer Kubernetes clusters, explore new tools, and enhance security and reliability of running applications.
• Own our developer experience. Assist engineers with best practices, administer CI/CD and internal tools to streamline deployments.

What you have:

• 5+ years experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one high‑level programming language (Python, Go, etc.).
• Strong understanding of networking, containers, security, and scalability.
• Strong Kubernetes fundamentals and experience with Helm or similar tools.
• Strong infrastructure‑as‑code skills (Terraform).
• Broad experience with a major cloud provider (AWS).
• Experience with observability platforms (Datadog).
• Experience writing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Experience being part of an on‑call rotation.
• Nice to have:
  • Experience with Kubernetes tools such as Vault, Sealed Secrets, Consul, Prometheus.
  • Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake and data infrastructure management.
  • Cybersecurity and/or regulatory compliance experience (HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
