Job summary

Beehive Industries is seeking a Senior Plant Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing readiness for external hardware at our Centennial, Colorado facility. You will drive design-for-manufacturing, tooling, prototyping, and production planning to optimize cost, quality, and schedule in aerospace components.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience with metal forming, welding, and electronics enclosures.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or similar systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and models effectively.

Senior Plant Manufacturing Engineer, Externals

Beehive Industries is dedicated to Powering American Defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Through the integration of additive manufacturing, the company aims to meet the growing and urgent needs for unmanned aerial defense by dramatically improving a jet engine’s speed to market, fuel efficiency, and cost.

Founded in 2020, the company is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, with additional facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, Loveland Ohio, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. Beehive is committed to grow and advance the defense industrial base while manufacturing exclusively in the USA. This role will be located at our Centennial, Colorado facility.

Role Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer, NPI Hardware is responsible for developing efficient, scalable production processes for aerospace components, including those made through traditional and additive manufacturing processes. This role focuses on Design for Manufacturing, planning, prototyping, tooling, and production process optimization while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve quality, reduce cost, and enhance manufacturability. The engineer serves as the manufacturing owner for purchased hardware, driving all aspects of its production readiness and performance.

What You’ll Do…
  • Design for Manufacturing- work with design team to develop designs that are ready for manufacturing efficiently
  • Manufacturing Planning: Create production plans, work instructions, partner with operations to coordinate resources, and monitor process success to meet project requirements and deadlines
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop and oversee prototype manufacturing, testing and validation processes to ensure that aerospace components meet design specifications and performance requirements
  • Process Development: Design and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace component and systems, considering factors such as materials, machinery, tooling, and labor
  • Collaborative Work: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineer, quality control specialists, and supply chain specialists to address issues and ensure smooth production operations
  • Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks in the manufacturing process and develop contingency plans to mitigate them
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control manufacturing costs by improving processes, reducing waste, and making cost-effective decisions regarding materials, equipment, and labor
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement process improvements, automation, and lean manufacturing techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce production errors
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production issues, such as defects, machine malfunctions, or process inconsistencies, to maintain a smooth production flow
  • Quoting of potential new parts and manufacturing methods for production hardware

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution
Experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience manufacturing experience. Knowledge and skills regarding tube bending and fittings, metal forming, welding, electronics enclosures, and more
  • Exposure to integration and vehicle/system packaging
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or similar systems
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and models effectively
  • Experience in adapting equipment or tooling designs to meet factory and production requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong workload management and follow-up capabilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across all levels within and outside the organization
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Availability to work extended hours during machine outages or critical activities
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $120,000-$145,000 base salary. Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
