Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• Progressive accounting experience with strong general-ledger, journal-entry, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Manufacturing, inventory, cost accounting, or related physical-product experience preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with ERP and reporting systems.
• Practical investigative mindset with questions when numbers don’t add up.
• Strong communication, accuracy, follow-through, and deadline management.
• Curious, collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to help where needed.
• Willingness to work onsite and participate in physical inventory activities.

Responsibilities

• Managing monthly financial close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, reporting, and variance explanations.
• Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate inventory and manufacturing costs.
• Participating in physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Investigating inventory, material, usage, scrap, production, and purchasing variances.
• Maintaining fixed assets and other financial records.
• Assisting with pricing, margin analysis, budgets, forecasts, and operational reporting.
• Partnering with production, purchasing, sales, payroll, and plant leadership.
• Reviewing timecards and coordinating accurate regional payroll submissions.
• Support audits, compliance, internal controls, and process improvements.
• Looking beyond the spreadsheet to solve problems at their operational source.

Are you an accounting professional looking to broaden your experience in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment? Pavement Maintenance Group is seeking a Senior Plant Accountant who enjoys connecting accounting with inventory, production, purchasing, and day-to-day plant activity.

This role is well-suited for someone with several years of progressive accounting experience who is ready for greater scope and influence. It can also be a strong fit for an experienced plant accountant who prefers meaningful, hands-on work over a narrowly specialized or heavily managerial position.

Our Carolinas region operates with the ownership and agility of a smaller entrepreneurial business. You will work directly with regional finance and operations leadership, gain visibility into how the entire business operates, and have a meaningful voice in financial and operational decisions.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll be a key financial partner to our plant team, owning and supporting a broad range of responsibilities, including:

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant education and experience
• Progressive accounting experience with strong general-ledger, journal-entry, reconciliation, and financial-statement fundamentals
• Manufacturing, inventory, cost-accounting, distribution, or other physical-product experience preferred
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with ERP and reporting systems
• A practical, investigative mindset and confidence asking questions when the numbers do not make sense
• Strong communication, accuracy, follow-through, and deadline management
• A curious, collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to help wherever the operation needs support
• Willingness to work onsite, engage with the plant, and participate in physical inventory activities
