Job summary

Gfoat's Development Services department seeks an Assistant Department Head of Planning to plan, budget, supervise, and coordinate the Planning Division. You will provide professional planning counsel to the City Council, Plan Commission, and the public, supervise workgroups, and ensure compliance with codes and standards.

Bachelor's in planning is required; Master's and AICP preferred; Texas driver’s license required; six years of municipal planning experience and strong leadership are essential

Qualifications

• Six+ years in municipal planning with public/institutional interaction.
• Supervisory experience with performance evaluations.
• Experience reviewing zoning and development plans for compliance.
• Strong public speaking, presentations and report writing ability.
• MS Office proficiency; GIS experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead Planning Division operations and advise City Council and boards.
• Supervise staff, set work plans, and conduct evaluations.
• Review zoning and development proposals for compliance.
• Prepare technical planning studies and recommendations.
• Assist with department budget and grants; manage resources.
• Represent the city with the public and external agencies.
