Job summary

Hardee County is seeking a Senior Planner to perform technical, creative planning work in the Community Development Department. You will conduct research on land use, zoning, housing, transportation, and urban design, review site plans, and coordinate with boards and the public.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Public Administration, Planning or related field.
• Three years' experience in Planning, Zoning, or Public Administration.
• Master's degree preferred and willingness to achieve AICP or other planning certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present agenda items in compliance with local codes and plans, including amendments and rezonings.
• Prepare staff reports and analyze the Future Land Use Map; present findings to boards and citizen groups.
• Update and maintain the Comprehensive Plan; ensure development applications meet codes and statutes.
• Coordinate with public, developers, and county staff on land use and planning issues.
• Coordinate development review committees and assist applicants with project evaluations.
• Conduct research and prepare reports on land use, housing, transportation, and demographics.
• Collect zoning maps and data for reports; attend advisory board meetings.
• Perform administrative duties and use MS Office and planning software for correspondence and reports.
