Job summary

Vervic Inc. is seeking a Senior PKI Engineer to design and maintain trusted PKI architectures and certificate lifecycles on-site in Washington, DC. You will manage root/intermediate hierarchies, trust models, and policy enforcement while coordinating with cross-domain teams to ensure interoperability and security.

The role requires extensive PKI expertise, DoD 8140 compliance, and active TS clearance with possible TS/SCI; professional certifications are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of PKI/security engineering experience in secure environments.
• Active TS clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• Professional certification required; expert-level preferred.
• Design and troubleshoot PKI across multiple platforms/vendors.
• Experience with complex trust models and certificate interoperability.
• DoD 8140 compliance required.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage PKI architectures, including root/intermediate hierarchies, chains of trust, and certificate lifecycle processes.
• Create and maintain segmented trust models (organizational partitions, cross-domain trust, constrained intermediates).
• Generate and support certificates for diverse use cases, including vendor-specific constraints and non-standard requirements.
• Troubleshoot certificate validation issues across systems, applications, and network boundaries.
• Collaborate with systems, network, and application teams to ensure certificates function correctly within their environments.
• Define and enforce certificate policies, revocation strategies (CRL/OCSP), and security controls.
• Mentor engineers on PKI fundamentals and correct implementation practices.
