Job summary

Vertiv seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for Piping & Welding to act as the technical SME across a global supplier base. You will drive supplier qualification, technical evaluation, audits, and documentation reviews to ensure compliance with ASME/AWS/ISO 9001 standards and Vertiv requirements.

You will lead development initiatives, ensure traceability and NDT compliance, and collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to resolve complex fabrication issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Welding/Fabrication Quality Engineering.
• Recognized SME in piping, welding, and fabricated structural components.
• Strong knowledge of ASME, AWS, ISO 9001, and related fabrication/welding standards.
• Experience reviewing WPS, PQR, WPQR, MTRs, PPAPs, and NDT reports.
• Proven experience conducting supplier audits, qualification, and development.
• Structured problem solving skills (8D, RCA, SCAR, CAPA).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the SME for piping and welding supplier quality across Vertiv’s global supplier base.
• Lead supplier qualification and technical evaluation to ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, ISO 9001, and Vertiv requirements.
• Conduct supplier audits and on-site assessments of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and fabrication capabilities.
• Review and approve critical supplier documentation (WPS, PQR, WPQR, MTRs, PPAPs, weld maps, and NDT reports).
• Verify material traceability, dimensional accuracy, and NDT compliance.
• Lead supplier development and quality improvement initiatives to improve FPY and performance.
• Drive RCA, 8D, SCAR, CAPA and related problem-solving for supplier issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supplier Development to resolve fabrication/welding issues.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and communicate trends, risks, and corrective actions to leadership.
• Support ISO 9001 quality system compliance and continuous improvement across the supply base.
• Travel 50%+ to support audits, development, and issue resolution.
