Job summary

Wood is seeking a Senior Piping & Mechanical Designer for its Oil & Gas segment in the Washington, WV area. You will drive design work for capital projects in active chemical plants, reading P&ID and plant specs while interfacing with multi-discipline teams.

The role requires the ability to work on-site with minimal relocation support. The team emphasizes safety, adherence to ASME/API codes, and development of junior designers, with opportunities for professional growth and a broad project

Qualifications

15 to 20 years’ industrial experience in design, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
Self-directed and proactive in driving your design process.
Experience reading P&ID, plant specs, and industry codes (ASME, API).

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed safety standards.
Comply with company procedures and engineering practices.
Read and understand P&ID’s and plant engineering specs.
Interface with engineers, operators, maintenance, environmental, and other site personnel to understand design considerations.
Guide junior designers in their design work.
Provide piping & mechanical design for capital and service projects in fast-paced environments.
Review designs with site teams before construction.
Support field as-built, measurements, and design updates as required.
Assist with material take-offs and construction estimating.
