Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to lead multi-discipline teams on piping design projects in Oak Ridge, TN. You will guide concept-to-detail design, ensuring quality, schedule, and safety standards are met, while coordinating with engineers and technicians across disciplines.

You will apply process piping design experience, ASME codes, and QA principles to deliver robust systems. Occasional travel and field collaboration are involved.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• Design experience for process piping, gas piping, and related systems.
• Experience delivering projects from concept through detailed design.
• Strong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills.
• Experience leading groups of engineers/designers within budgets and schedules.
• Experience working within ISO 9000 or NQA-1 quality systems.
• Design experience with ASME B31.1, B31.3 and ASME B&PV Code.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow, thermal sciences, and process systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

B.S. Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school.

Knowledge and experience designing process piping, gas piping and other related systems.

Demonstrated experience of delivering a range of projects from concept through detailed design completion

Strong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills

Experience leading groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules.

Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1

Design experience with AMSE B31.1 and B31.3 and ASME B&PV Code.

Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow - compressible and incompressible, thermal sciences, and process systems.

Competent using Microsoft Office software.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience performing pipe stress analysis highly desired

Master’s degree is a plus

DOE Q clearance is preferred but not required

A person residing a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN office is preferred

Essential Functions:

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.

$140,000 - $190,000
