Job summary

Hargrove is seeking a Pipe Designer in Longview, TX to perform field walkdowns, 3D piping modeling, routing, and produce construction-ready isometrics. The role emphasizes hands-on field work and collaboration with engineers, PMs, and other designers.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of mechanical/piping drafting experience, strong knowledge of piping codes, and proficiency with AVEVA E3D, MicroStation, and AutoCAD. Safety, constructability, and high-quality output are core to the position.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of piping layout principles, materials, and industry codes.
• Comfortable working in the field to verify conditions.
• Strong understanding of piping layout principles, industry codes, and material specifications.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and vendor equipment drawings.
• Skilled in producing, checking, and correcting piping isometric drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in resolving design conflicts and routing challenges.
• Strong field-verification skills with the ability to take accurate measurements and document site conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, project managers, and field personnel.
• Knowledge of 2D CAD platforms such as MicroStation or AutoCAD for final deliverables.
• Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet project deadlines.
• Commitment to safety, constructability, and high-quality design output.
• Experience using AVEVA E3D for 3D piping design.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD for 2D piping deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Perform field walkdowns to collect measurements and verify existing conditions.
• Independently route piping between equipment following design standards and best practices.
• Model piping systems in a 3D environment, preferably AVEVA E3D.
• Generate, clean, check, and issue piping isometric drawings for construction.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other designers to resolve design challenges.
• Ensure designs account for safety, accessibility, stress considerations, and constructability.
• Use 2D CAD tools (MicroStation or AutoCAD) to finalize and issue piping isometrics.
