Job summary

Overview

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle, including licensed process technologies, advisory services, technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high‑end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize assets. We are looking for a Senior Piping Designer who will function under broad direction, act as a technical specialist, make decisions and recommendations in line with project and industry standards, and provide coaching and mentorship for junior designers. The role involves responsibility for assigned areas on a project and may include leadership of smaller projects.

Functional Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for design, specification and services related to piping systems and layout, including piping material selection, line classes, standard and specialty components, pressure, weight and thermal analysis, vibration analysis and piping support systems.
• May lead a team of designers on multiple independent projects, responsible for the overall budget, schedule, and quality of the piping group on assigned projects.
• Assist in conducting piping reviews of all project packages prior to IFC to ensure quality procedures were followed.
• Review project design estimates and work scopes for each new project.
• May execute work in a multi‑office environment.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

• Minimum 15 years of applicable industry piping/mechanical experience within the chemical and industrial industry.
• Proficiency with 3D piping software (PDMS preferred) and 2D MicroStation or AutoCAD is required.
• Experience navigating 3D models with Navisworks.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. is required.
• Ability to travel and work at client sites is required.
