Job summary

RigUp, Inc. is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Mapping Designer to lead advanced pipeline mapping and design across North America.

You will guide programs from conception through construction, approve deliverables, and mentor multidisciplinary teams while ensuring safety, quality, and budget adherence. This role requires senior-level expertise in Civil 3D, GIS routing, and survey integration, with strong client interaction and the ability to manage complex project workflows in a hybrid

Qualifications

• Extensive pipeline mapping and design experience across upstream, midstream, gathering, transmission, or distribution.
• 7+ years for Principal level or 12+ years for Senior Principal level.
• Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D (2022+) proficiency in pipeline design.
• Experience coordinating survey operations with engineering design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with client interface.
• Ability to mentor multidisciplinary design teams.
• Knowledge of route selection, right-of-way planning, and permitting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
• Ability to manage multiple programs, schedules, budgets, and risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review, and approval of pipeline mapping packages.
• Execute advanced pipeline mapping and corridor designs using Civil 3D.
• Utilize GIS/geospatial tech for routing studies and project development.
• Support proposal preparation, project planning, and scope definitions.
• Evaluate scope changes to advise on constructability, schedule, and risk.
• Coordinate with customers, survey teams, and multiple engineering disciplines.
• Facilitate route reviews, design workshops, and client meetings.
• Present technical evaluations and pipeline mapping recommendations to stakeholders.
• Review deliverables from junior designers and mentor staff.
• Support project scheduling, workload planning, and cost metrics.
• Participate in field activities for route validation and data collection.
• Enforce HSEQ standards across design activities.
• Manage competing priorities between major programs and studies.
• Drive continuous improvement of mapping standards and tools.
