Job summary

WW Clyde and Co. is seeking an experienced Pipelayer to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems on projects in Texas. The position requires reading plans, selecting pipes, and ensuring safe, efficient installations.

Qualifications

• Ability to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems.
• Knowledge of piping, wastewater, storm drain, and related fixtures.
• Ability to read and study building plans or working drawings.
• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
• Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions and ensure safety.
• Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other workers.
• Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer, chisel, torch, or pipe cutting machine.
• Threads pipe using threading machine.
• Bends pipe by hand or with a bending machine.
• Assembles and installs metal and nonmetal pipes and fittings (brass, copper, lead, glass, plastic).
• Joins piping by threaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secures pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
• Tests piping systems for leaks by pressurizing and observing gauges.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of piping systems, wastewater systems, storm drain, and fixtures.
• Knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings.
• Select the type and size of pipe and related materials per job specifications.
• Inspect worksite to identify obstructions and ensure safety to prevent weak points.
• Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other construction workers.
• Cut pipe with hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer, chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
• Thread pipe using threading machine.
• Bend pipe by hand or with a bending machine.
• Assemble and install various metal and nonmetal pipes and fittings (brass, copper, lead, glass, plastic).
• Join piping by threaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
• Test piping system for leaks by pressurizing and checking gauges.
