Job summary

STS Technical Services is seeking a Pipefitter in West Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to support fabrication and installation of piping systems used in industrial heat-processing equipment.

The role requires reading drawings and burner schematics, fabricating and installing gas/oil/air/water piping, and operating threading and welding equipment in a manufacturing environment. Safety and quality are emphasized throughout the build process.

• Read and interpret blueprints
• Read and interpret burner schematics
• Understand safety rules and operating instructions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow verbal, written and diagram-based instructions
• Ability to perform calculations with whole numbers, fractions and decimals
• Experience operating pipe-cutting and threading equipment

Responsibilities

• Read and work from drawings, blueprints and burner schematics
• Lay out and install gas, oil, air and water plumbing and piping systems
• Determine piping layouts for efficient installation
• Support standard and complex industrial oven systems
• Select piping, fittings, valves, meters and gauges per specs
• Measure and cut piping
• Thread and form piping
• Install piping components per production requirements
• Operate pipe-threading equipment
• Deburr threaded piping
• Apply thread-sealing compounds
• Operate welding equipment to weld piping
• Assist with testing completed units and subassemblies
• Schedule work and coordinate labor with production requirements
• Participate in piping and electrical layout activities
• Maintain a clean, safe work area
• Communicate project status and issues with Engineering
• Document project information
• Attend technical classes to stay current in trade
• Perform additional duties as assigned
