Job summary

The University of California - San Diego Medical Centers is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Anesthesia Critical Care team across ICU areas including Surgical ICU, Rapid Recovery Unit, Cardiac ICU, and East Campus ICU.

Under general supervision, the PA will provide direct patient care, follow advanced practice guidelines, collaborate with off-site physicians, participate in teaching, and help develop treatment plans, with shift options Monday-Sunday.

Qualifications

• Graduate from ARC-PA approved PA program.
• California PA license.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS at hire with commitment to ART within six months.
• 1+ year adult critical care experience as PA.
• Proficient in documenting patient conditions and outcomes.
• Knowledge of common diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Experience delivering patient education and counseling.
• Strong chart editing and data accuracy abilities.
• Good patient interviewing and history-taking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide follow-through with the care plan per advanced practice guidelines.
• Assess and provide medical care for adult ICU patients.
• Collaborate with off-site physician within interdisciplinary teams.
• Practice under general supervision with UCSD policies.
• Teach programs and develop patient education materials.
• Contribute to program planning and patient education initiatives.
