Job summary

Monarch Quantum in San Diego, CA seeks a Senior Staff Photonics Module Test Engineer to own characterization, qualification, and reliability testing of photonic components and modules. You will build test stations, run DOE-driven experiments, and perform optical measurements to drive design decisions and product readiness.

Responsibilities include designing test setups, executing DVPR activities across EVT, DVT, and PVT, and delivering lab-quality data and engineering reports.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Photonics, Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on photonics laboratory experience
• Strong hands-on experience in photonics lab environments and with core photonics instrumentation

Responsibilities

• Characterization: design, build and operate test setups for photonic components and modules, measuring output power, wavelength, linewidth, phase noise, RIN, nonlinearity, and beam parameters
• DOE & Experiments: draft structured DOE plans, conduct experiments, document results, and deliver data analysis reports
• Reliability Testing: perform life testing for modules and key components; trend data and deliver reports; conduct failure analysis as guided
• Design Verification: support DVPR across EVT, DVT, and PVT; develop test plans, acceptance criteria, qualification protocols, sign-off docs, and automated test sequences (Python / LabVIEW / MATLAB)
