Job summary

Xanadu in the United States seeks a Senior Photonics Design Engineer to drive design and scaling of passive and active components powering its fault-tolerant quantum hardware.

You will leverage high-throughput simulation pipelines to attain sub-milli-dB loss, collaborate with Fabrication, Tooling and Test teams, run DOEs, and guide designs from concept to high-volume wafer production, with equity and benefits included.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD in Engineering or related field with 2+ years in industry.
• Expert-level knowledge designing passive integrated optical components including wafer variation.
• Deep understanding of loss sources in photonic devices and fabrication relations.
• Understanding of tradeoffs between simulation approaches and resources.
• Experience with scripted photonic mask design and layout.
• Participated in 5+ tapeouts covering design, layout and analysis.
• Experience with Git in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive design and scaling of passive and active photonic components for quantum hardware.
• Use high-throughput simulations to achieve sub-milli-dB loss targets.
• Collaborate with Fabrication, Tooling and Test teams to manage trade-offs; execute DOEs.
• Deploy data-driven analysis to close the design loop from concept to high-volume wafer production.
