Job summary

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a Senior Photo Editor for WSJ. Magazine and Style News coverage, including Entertainment, Fashion & Lifestyle, and Culture bureaus. This role requires a digital, deadline-driven background and expertise in portraiture, reportage, and conceptual still-life.

You will oversee shoots from concept to delivery, collaborate with editors and reporters, and build visual assets for Style News across digital platforms.

Qualifications

• At least 6 to 8 years experience in a photo-editing role.
• Editorial production background in assigning visual content.
• Excellent news judgment and fast digital editing skills.
• Strong industry relationships with photographers, photo agents, stylists and other collaborators.
• Knowledge of web tools including CMS, Photoshop, PhotoMechanic and social platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multi-pronged visual projects from concept to final delivery, including fashion shoots with talent and models.
• Collaborate with WSJ. Magazine and Style News editors, newsroom photo editors and platform teams.
• Produce, pull and build visual assets for Style News across digital platforms.
• Lead photo shoot production from concept through delivery, coordinating with the Photography Director.
• Coordinate image deliverables across newspaper, magazine and digital teams.
• Pitch innovative and original visual approaches for coverage across platforms and audiences.
• Develop fresh, witty visuals for columns and analysis with social engagement in mind.
• Meticulously manage monthly budgets and negotiate rates with contractors and third parties.
