Natera is seeking a Sr Phlebotomist to identify the best blood collection methods, prepare specimens for testing, and perform screening procedures onsite in Springfield, MA. You will work with PHI in paper and electronic form and must complete HIPAA/PHI privacy training promptly.

The role emphasizes accuracy, patient safety, and adherence to department procedures while managing specimen tracking, quality control, and communication with healthcare staff and laboratories.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Ability to verify and collect blood samples.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI handling.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies test requisitions against nursing station log and flags discrepancies.
  • Verifies patient identity before procedures.
  • Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture and finger sticks.
  • Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique and department procedures.
  • Tracks specimens by dating and documenting collection times.
  • Records results and maintains quality-control logs.
  • Maintains a safe, compliant work environment per standards and regulations.
  • Resolves unusual orders by consulting physicians or reference labs.
  • Keeps knowledge current through training and professional reading.
  • Supports PHI privacy and completes required HIPAA/PHI training within 30 days.
  • Manages patient reports printing and courier pickups; answers billing inquiries.
